Duct tape has so many uses but it is never a permanant fix. It's great for patching holes until they can be repaired, or holding something together until it can be bolted back on. It gives quick support so you can glue the pieces back together. Duct tape can hold headlights in place so you dont have to drive in the dark. It also leaves behind a visible residue that can almost never be removed, showing that duct tape was used in time of need.

When I felt lost and alone as a child and had a hole in my heart, my dad patched that hole so I could repair it on my own, making me stronger.

When I was sick and my body was falling apart, my dad was there holding me together so I could heal and be well again.

When my sprit was broken and I thought I had lost the pieces, he was there so I could glue them back together.

And when I felt there was no light ahead of me, he held the headlights in place so I wouldnt lose sight of the road crash off a cliff.

He was never a superglue dad....he didn't try to solve my problems and he didnt try to fix me. He knew that some things you can only fix on your own with time, but was and is always there to help me hold it all together until *I* can fix them.

Like duct tape, he left a residue on everything he touched and that residue is there to remind me of how much he has done over the years and how much he loves me.

I'm thankful for my duct tape dad. Without him I would have never become the person that I am today.
